Peacemaking for Families

peacemaking-for-families-teaser

This class will be a joint class for children (ages K-5th grade) and their parents.  (Any parents of younger or older children are also invited to attend.)  The class will be held jointly for the first 30 minutes of each class, and then the children will break to their own classrooms.

The class will work through the principles of “The Young Peacemaker: Teaching Students to Respond to Conflict God’s Way” by Corlette Sande.  After the children are dismissed, the adults will discuss applications to parenting.

Conflict creates problems and provides opportunities.  Family relationships are often hurt by conflict.  Struggles in parenting are often revealed in times of conflict.  But conflict often provides unique parenting opportunities.  The goal of this class is to provide children (and parents!) a grid and language for understanding conflict, responding to conflict, and preventing conflict.  It will help families learn how to apply the Gospel in their homes and to the most intimate relationships of their lives.

This class will be taught by Pastor Matt Foreman.  Join us every Sunday at 9:45am in the Fellowship Hall starting on January 8, 2017.
