The Holiness of God

In our day there remains a tendency to trivialize God.  God has condescended to meet us in our needs.  And while He wants us to bring all our requests boldly to His throne we must never forget that He is still a consuming fire (Heb. 12:29) and is owed worship because of who He is in His being.  The cross reveals a God of great love, mercy and grace as well as a God who is righteous, just and holy.

A growing Christian is one who considers often the transcendence of God.  God exists above and beyond us outside of space and time.  God is holy.  He cannot look upon evil.  In His presence we are told are seraphim whose sole duty to is to cry to one another,

“Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; the whole earth is full of His glory!” (Isaiah 6:2-3).

We will be using the classic series by R. C. Sproul on this subject as well as studying additional Biblical passages.  As we are confronted by the holiness of God, God will be exalted, man will be humbled and the Christian will be both troubled by God’s holiness and drawn to Him because of His holiness.

This class will be taught by Pastor Glenn Force.  Join us every Sunday at 9:45am in the Fellowship Hall starting on April 9, 2017.
