Worship By the Book

“Worthy are you, our Lord and God,
to receive glory and honor and power,
for you created all things,
and by your will they existed and were created.”
(Revelation 4:11)

God created the world for his praise (Psalm 19:1, Isaiah 43:21), as a reflection of his own power and beauty. Human beings, particularly, were created to be his worshippers and image-bearers. Because of sin, that purpose was lost and that image was tarnished.
In many ways, the Bible is the story of the recovery of true worship. It is NOT the story of human beings recovering true worship, but of God recovering true worshipers and establishing true worship in his Son Jesus Christ. Only God can reveal how he is to be worshiped; only God can redeem lost sinners; only God can reestablish true worship.
This class will seek to explore the Bible’s teaching on the subject of worship by surveying the unfolding revelation of worship in Biblical history and the principles that should guide our worship (both public and private) today.
