Fear, Worry, and the God of Rest Sunday School

I have a new philosophy. I only dread one day at a time.

Charlie Brown

Fear is real. So is danger. Life is frightening and gives us plenty to worry about. Our fears can include the opinions of others, our finances, our health, our children, our work, death, and . . . Yes, even public speaking!

Sometimes our anxieties can so dominate and control us that we feel paralyzed before an intimidating and powerful world. What are we to do? How are we to handle such things?

The Lord of peace Himself gives us abundant and gracious counsel and encouragement through His Word. We will consider the causes of fear and how the Lord not only speaks to us in the midst of our anxiety but how He also graciously assists, empowers, and walks with us through the fire and the flood. We will be using Running Scared by Ed Welch as our guide.

And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?

Matthew 6:27
