Acts, Part I Sunday School

Luke, the author of the book of Acts, tells us that his Gospel recorded “all that Jesus began to do and teach.”  Acts, therefore, records His ongoing ministry following His ascension through the presence and power of the Holy Spirit.  Acts tells us of the growth of the early church from 120 frightened believers in an upper room in Jerusalem to a powerful movement that “turned the world upside down” (Acts 17:6).

As the early believers faced persecution from without and conflict within, the Spirit of God gave them power to spread the Gospel until it permeated the great Roman Empire.  The book has much to teach us about the power of God in the lives of simple believers and the power of the Gospel in an unbelieving world.  It also shows how the foundation of the church was built upon the work of the apostles and other faithful followers of Christ.

In this course, we will be examining the parts of the book of Acts that do not involve the ministry of the Apostle Paul.  We will thus see what God accomplished through Peter, Stephen, Philip, and others who spearheaded the growth of the church in its infant stages.

Join us for this Sunday School class with Pastor Bob Walton every Sunday starting at 9:45am in the sanctuary.
